Introduction to Triathlon Program:
The Introduction to Triathlon program provides a group training opportunity that runs from January to typically June. This will be our 11th year of training and leading a group of athletes to an early season race.
The program is designed for the novice athlete. Ideally the program will culminate in in a spring race but you can apply your fitness to any early season race. In past years athletes have participated at Gerick Sports Wasa Triathlon in Wasa, BC, or Tri-it's WildRose Triathlon in Calgary.
Cost for the program is a large discount from purchasing the various components separately. The program includes coaching for your race, workouts in all three disciplines as well as strength training via your own Training Peaks account, and attendance at one workout of each discipline weekly.
This very comprehensive training program includes;
Price for the program is $200/month. Space is very limited.
This training program is unique in that during the group sessions we discuss other non-fitness aspects of triathlon such as technique, transitions, tactics, etc. It can be a complicated sport so you will gain knowledge about race day clothing, race day nutrition, heart rate training zones, race rules, tactics, race planning, recovery, and more. You'll have an opportunity to practice changing a flat tire, swimming in a pack in open water race simulations, transitioning from one discipline to the next. Even some mental race preparation.
Some previous participants have said that this program is the very best way to do your first race; well prepared, surrounded by the friends that you have trained with along the way, solid fitness training and very comprehensive. Many folks come from a running background and are looking to try something new. Some have a swim background whereas many athletes are still trying to master the freestyle. So, we have people with all levels of fitness and skills.
Ultimately, when you get to the start line, you are very well prepared with skills, fitness and race strategy.
